ÖZ

The main theme of this study is the phenomenon of power in tribal associations, still very effective and active in many areas, in South-eastern Region of Turkey. Even though they are in a state of disintegration compared to the past, the tribes still maintain their central role in the region in the hierarchy of power. In other words, the power struggle is an important motivation behind maintaining the tribal ideology. Thus, the analysis of power, which is the main determinant in the daily practices of life in the region, makes it possible to have a better understanding of these structures. Though the extent of their effect differs from each other, one's relations with the state, the wealth owned and the family one belongs to / sanctity of its lineage are the fundamental determining factors of power in the region, which in turn form the structure of the tribe and outlines the nature of the authority of the tribal leader both on his people and on other leaders.
